Although “translation studies” is a new term, the concepts of the science studying translation date way back. There is no identity of opinions regarding the classification and delimitation of idioms. In literary translation, attempts are made to translate the idioms in the source text through idioms in the target language, though this means focusing the translation towards the target language to some extent. The article aims at finding Romanian idioms to translate Spanish idioms from Javier Marías’s novel, Tomás Nevinson.
