the Italian preposition da, Romanian equivalents, schematic descriptionAbstract
This article is a schematic description of the Romanian equivalents of the Italian preposition da: it presents Romanian equivalents for the situations when da introduces a complement, an implicit sentence with an infinitive or is included in the phrases avere + da + infinitive or essere + da + infinitive.
Theoretical explanations are supported by examples extracted from the Italian novels Il deserto dei Tartari by Dino Buzzati (Milan, Oscar Mondadori, 2004) and Il visconte dimezzato by Italo Calvino (Milan, Oscar Mondadori, 1993) and their Romanian translations Deșertul tătarilor (Bucharest, Univers Publishing House, 1996, translated by Niculina Benguș-Tudoriu) și Vicontele tăiat în două (Bucharest, Univers Publishing House, 1999, translated by Despina Mladoveanu).
